This summer, twelve students from Yu Tsai Elementary School, accompanied by Teachers David and Bobbie, embarked on an enriching journey to Vancouver, Canada, for an immersive summer camp at a local school. Yu Tsai students amazed the Canadian teachers with their outstanding English proficiency, a testament to the excellent instruction they received back in Taiwan.
Beyond language, the students seamlessly immersed themselves in Canadian culture. They embraced the new environment with enthusiasm, engaging in Canadian customs, activities, and social interactions with ease. Some students even picked up the habit of holding the door for others.
The group participated in a variety of fun activities that allowed them to interact with locals using English. Whether they were bowling, grocery shopping, attending an exciting air show, or crafting their own teddy bears, the students approached each opportunity with positivity and eagerness to learn.
Bowling was a highlight as the students cheered each other on and engaged in lively conversations with other players. At the air show, they interacted with local spectators, discussing the impressive aerial performances and sharing their excitement. One particularly memorable activity was making teddy bears, where the students practiced their English while discussing their creations with store staff and their peers.
Sightseeing was another key element of their adventure. As they visited famous landmarks around the city, the students' ability to comfortably interact in English not only helped them gain a deeper understanding of Canadian culture but also made them feel more connected to the local community. It was clear that this trip was as much about cultural immersion as it was about fun, leaving the students with cherished memories and valuable experiences.
